The Pelvic Floor Clinic uniquely provides the combined services of a Consultant Gynaecologist and a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon for the management of pelvic floor problems in both men and women including vaginal prolapse, rectal prolapse and incontinence.

Pelvic floor problems in the general population are common leading to disorders such as vaginal prolapse, rectal prolapse, urinary incontinence, faecal incontinence, lower urinary tract disorders and difficult or painful rectal evacuation.

It is increasingly apparent that bladder, vaginal and rectal problems frequently co-exist and are often inseparable. We believe the best results can be provided by the joint efforts of a urogynaecologist and a colorectal surgeon. Where patients previously may have had to put up with considerable restrictions on their daily activities with little hope of improvement, some very effective surgical and non-surgical management options now exist. These may make a significant difference to patients' lifestyles.

The Pelvic Floor Clinic is a comprehensive service at the Fitzwilliam Hospital in Peterborough for the management of disorders of the pelvic floor. The consultants delivering and coordinating this combined service are Mr Harnek Rai, Consultant Urogynaecologist and Mr Richard Guy, Consultant Colorectal surgeon, who share an interest in these disorders.
